God’s Faithfulness
Wednesday’s Verse:
From 2 Corinthians 3:18 ESV
“And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.”
Paul assures us that Christian living is not primarily about what we do for God; it’s about what God is doing in us. In Christ, the veil is torn. We’re no longer excluded from God’s presence or left to wonder who He is. Here, in the Gospel, we behold His glory. We see His mercy on the cross. We see His power in the resurrection. We see His love for sinners in every promise He gives.
Our response to this seeing is obedience. Change. Transformation. But this seeing does not change us overnight, and it is not by our own power. By His Spirit, God slowly molds us through His Word and Sacraments into the image of Jesus. Some days, we will see small increments of change. On other days, we will sin and feel weary. Yet His promise remains: our God is working. Day by day, He is building faith, restoring hope, and teaching us to love.
And that, dear Christians, is our great comfort. Because it’s not about how hard we can stare at the cross. Our transformation is not by our effort, but by our Lord’s faithfulness. Each and every time we come to God’s Word, He continues the good work within us.
✝️ A Prayer for Today:
Lord Jesus, thank You that we see Your glory displayed in mercy and truth. Let Your Spirit keep my eyes riveted to You. Continue to mold my heart by Your Word. Forgive my sin and teach me to love and serve others by reflecting Your love in the world. Amen.
Apostles’ Creed:
I believe in God, the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth.
And in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried. He descended into hell. The third day He rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty. From thence He will come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Christian Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.
The Lord’s Prayer:
Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name, Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven; give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever and ever. Amen.
Luther’s Morning Prayer:
I thank You, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, Your dear Son, that You have kept me this night from all harm and danger; and I pray that You would keep me this day also from sin and every evil, that all my doings and life may please You. For into Your hands, I commend myself, my body and soul, and all things. Let Your holy angel be with me, that the evil foe may have no power over me. Amen.
