Live in Thankfulness

Monday’s Verse:

From Romans 8:3 ESV

“For God has done what the law, weakened by the flesh, could not do. By sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and for sin, he condemned sin in the flesh.”

There is something strangely humbling and comforting about this verse. Humbling because we see that not even the Law could save us. God’s law is righteous and good. But our sin nature rebels from it. We might strive. We might even appear righteous on the outside. But look deeper. Sin dwells within us.

It’s comforting because our salvation doesn’t rely on how well we obey the Law. Paul redirects us to what God has done for us. Not what we could do. Not what we vow to do tomorrow. God sent His Son. Jesus became flesh. He entered into our frailty and bore our sin to the cross. Sin was punished and defeated on His body.

There you have it. The Gospel in a nutshell. We don’t earn our salvation with good behavior or a firm dedication to follow Him. Christ saved us by His work alone. His righteousness is credited to our account. His resurrection life is ours if we believe.

When your conscience is nagging at you. Meditate on this verse. The Lord has already done His part. The work is complete. Live not in condemnation but in thankfulness.

✝️ A Prayer for Today:

Heavenly Father, thank You Jesus for taking care of what I could not do. When I fall into the snare of my sin, please remind me that You have already paid its price. Teach me to trust in Your grace and live each day in the freedom You have provided. Amen.

Apostles’ Creed:

I believe in God, the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth.

And in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried. He descended into hell. The third day He rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty. From thence He will come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Christian Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

The Lord’s Prayer:

Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name, Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven; give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever and ever. Amen.

Luther’s Morning Prayer:

I thank You, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, Your dear Son, that You have kept me this night from all harm and danger; and I pray that You would keep me this day also from sin and every evil, that all my doings and life may please You. For into Your hands, I commend myself, my body and soul, and all things. Let Your holy angel be with me, that the evil foe may have no power over me. Amen.
