Restored By God

Today’s Verse:
Romans 3:23
ESV

For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God

This week, we will reflect upon some of the most popular Bible verses from Saint Paul’s Letter to the Romans. Today, we begin in Chapter 3, verse 23.

As we begin this new week, Romans 3:23 reminds us of a sobering truth: every one of us has sinned. None of us can stand before God’s perfect holiness on our own merit. Our thoughts, words, and actions often miss the mark, separating us from the glory God intended for us.

Yet, this verse is not the end of the story—it’s the beginning of hope. Our faith teaches that while we all fall short, God’s forgiveness is greater than our sin. Through Jesus’ death and resurrection, God freely offers us grace, cleansing us from all unrighteousness. This forgiveness isn’t something we earn; it’s a gift we receive through faith in Christ.

Today, take a moment to reflect on God’s boundless mercy. No sin is too great for His forgiveness. Confess your shortcomings to Him, trust in His promise of pardon, and rest in the peace that comes from being reconciled to God. As you go through this day, let His forgiveness inspire you to show grace to others, just as He has shown grace to you.

Prayer: In Jesus’ name, Amen.

A Prayer for Today:

Heavenly Father, thank You for Your unending forgiveness through Jesus Christ. Though I fall short, Your grace restores me. Help me to live in the joy of Your mercy and extend forgiveness to those around me. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Apostles’ Creed:

I believe in God, the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth.

And in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried. He descended into hell. The third day He rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty. From thence He will come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Christian Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

The Lord’s Prayer:

Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name, Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven; give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever and ever. Amen.

Luther’s Morning Prayer:

I thank You, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, Your dear Son, that You have kept me this night from all harm and danger; and I pray that You would keep me this day also from sin and every evil, that all my doings and life may please You. For into Your hands, I commend myself, my body and soul, and all things. Let Your holy angel be with me, that the evil foe may have no power over me. Amen.
