Mary’s Word Brings Hope
Friday’s Verses:
From Luke 1:46-47 ESV
And Mary said, “My soul magnifies the Lord, and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior.”
When Mary says these words, she does not focus on herself. She points everything to the Lord. This is one reason why this passage brings comfort and joy to Christians.
Mary received an amazing honor. She would give birth to Christ, the Son of God. But notice her words: “God my Savior.” Even Mary needed a Savior. Her joy was not in her own goodness, worth, or place in history. Her joy was in Jesus.
This is why these verses bring happiness to Christians. The Gospel is for sinners. God does not save people because they are already holy. He saves them because He is merciful. Mary understood this, and so do we.
Also, notice how personal her words are. She does not just say “a Savior,” but “my Savior.” Faith holds on to Christ in a personal way. The same Lord who came for the world also came for you. He forgives your sins, hears your prayers, and keeps His promises.
Mary’s joy shows us what true worship is. Her soul lifts up the Lord. A joyful faith always puts Jesus first. Our Christian life is not about proving ourselves to God. It is about receiving His grace with thanks.
We live in an anxious world filled with guilt. Mary’s words still bring hope. Christ has come. Jesus is our Savior. That changes everything.
✝️ A Prayer for Today:
Lord Jesus Christ, You are the joy of Your people. Teach us to rejoice with Mary in the salvation You freely give. Turn our hearts away from ourselves and toward Your mercy, so that our lives would magnify You with gladness. Amen.
Apostles’ Creed:
I believe in God, the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth.
And in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried. He descended into hell. The third day He rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty. From thence He will come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Christian Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.
The Lord’s Prayer:
Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name, Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven; give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever and ever. Amen.
Luther’s Morning Prayer:
I thank You, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, Your dear Son, that You have kept me this night from all harm and danger; and I pray that You would keep me this day also from sin and every evil, that all my doings and life may please You. For into Your hands, I commend myself, my body and soul, and all things. Let Your holy angel be with me, that the evil foe may have no power over me. Amen.
