Being Compassionate
Sunday’s Verse:
From Matthew 14:14 ESV
“When (Jesus) went ashore, he saw a great crowd, and he had compassion on them and healed their sick.”
Jesus “had compassion” on the crowd… One phrase reveals great truths about our Lord. He is not indifferent to our needs. He sees the suffering, He welcomes the weary, and He works on our behalf in mercy. In this verse we see Christ revealing God’s heart for sinners and sufferers.
This is good news: Christ came to us first. We did not deserve His attention from the crowd, and neither do we deserve His attention. He mends broken bodies because He is gracious, and He continues to come to His people with mercy through His Word and promises.

✝️ A Prayer for Today:
Heavenly Father, Your beloved Son, Jesus, looked upon the crowd and had compassion on them. Have mercy on us in our time of need. Strengthen our faith so we can trust in Your mercy for both body and soul. Amen.
Apostles’ Creed:
I believe in God, the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth.
And in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried. He descended into hell. The Lord’s Prayer:

I thank You, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, Your dear Son, that You have kept me this night from all harm and danger; and I pray that You would keep me this day also from sin and every evil, that all my doings and life may please You. For into Your hands, I commend myself, my body and soul, and all things. Let Your holy angel be with me, that the evil foe may have no power over me. Amen.
