Constant in Prayer
Monday’s Verse:
From Romans 12:12 ESV
“Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer.”
Building off Sunday's sermon on the power of prayer, what does it truly mean to "be constant in prayer?”
Paul gives us a clear guide for the Christian walk: rejoice in hope, be patient in trouble, and pray always. To be persistent in prayer does not mean reciting formal words every waking moment. Rather, it means continually turning our hearts toward God—lifting up our gratitude, concerns, questions, and praise throughout the day.
Our access to God does not depend on our eloquence, but on His promise to hear us in Christ. Because Jesus reconciled us to the Father, we can approach Him with confidence. When words come easily, we pray. When we find no words at all, the Holy Spirit intercedes for us.
Self-reliance will never sustain us, nor will prayerless living. Daily prayer reminds us that we do not carry life's burdens alone and teaches us to recognize every blessing as a gift from God's hand. Whether whispered before a meeting, offered in gratitude at the end of the day, or prayed in silence during a trial, turning to God anchors our trust in Him.
May you keep turning toward Christ today. Whatever you face, He hears you, remains with you, and holds you in His care.
✝️ A Prayer for Today:
God of all grace, let us never grow weary of turning to you. In times of joy, teach us to praise; in times of suffering, grant us patience; and in every season, strengthen our hope in Jesus Christ. Amen.
Apostles’ Creed:
I believe in God, the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth.
And in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried. He descended into hell. The third day He rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty. From thence He will come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Christian Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.
The Lord’s Prayer:
Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name, Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven; give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever and ever. Amen.
Luther’s Morning Prayer:
I thank You, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, Your dear Son, that You have kept me this night from all harm and danger; and I pray that You would keep me this day also from sin and every evil, that all my doings and life may please You. For into Your hands, I commend myself, my body and soul, and all things. Let Your holy angel be with me, that the evil foe may have no power over me. Amen.
