Let Your Joy Tell the Story

Tuesday’s Verse:

From Philippians 4:4 ESV

“Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice.”

Smiling is something that can spread to others. Having a happy spirit can also spread to those around you. I think that if we come across someone who is happy, we will smile as well.

As Christians, we can use happiness to spread the good news about Jesus Christ.

Saint Paul says to rejoice in the Lord always. He does not say rejoice in the Lord when you feel happy. Rejoice in the Lord when you are healthy. Or when everything is going well in your life. Just rejoice in the Lord.

We should know the difference between being happy and being joyful as Christians. When we are happy, it is because of what is going on around us. As Christians, we know that Jesus Christ gave his life for us. That is why we should always rejoice in the Lord.

Because he forgave us of our sins.  Because he defeated death, and if we believe in Him, we will live forever.

As Christians, we can still smile through sad times. Because we have a Savior that will never leave us.

We can smile at those around us, and they may wonder why.

If we show happiness to others, maybe we can open up a conversation about the good news of Jesus. Maybe they will ask us why we are so happy.

That would be a great time to tell them about Jesus.

We don't smile to please God.  We smile because God showed us love through Jesus.

When we show happiness, it may not convert others, but it can allow them to see how great our Savior is.

Next time, smile at someone.  Show them some happiness.  And if you get the chance, tell them about our Savior who allows us to be happy all the time.

Today’s Prayers

Almighty Father, we thank You for giving us joy through knowing Your Son. Remind us to always be happy even in hard times. We know Your love never changes and Your mercy is endless. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

Apostles’ Creed:

I believe in God, the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth.

And in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried. He descended into hell. The third day He rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty. From thence He will come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Christian Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

The Lord’s Prayer:

Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name, Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven; give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever and ever. Amen.

Luther’s Morning Prayer:

I thank You, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, Your dear Son, that You have kept me this night from all harm and danger; and I pray that You would keep me this day also from sin and every evil, that all my doings and life may please You. For into Your hands, I commend myself, my body and soul, and all things. Let Your holy angel be with me, that the evil foe may have no power over me. Amen.
