Every Day is National God Loves You Day

Friday’s Verse:

From 1 John 4:16 ESV

“So we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us. God is love, and whoever abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him.”

Have you ever followed the “National Day Of” calendar? Well, if you don’t, you should start! It is a hoot what we are supposed to “remember” every day. Like today, the day before the Reformation/Halloween, it is National Candy Corn Day! And it is a good day to go to Olive Garden (please don’t tell any Italian I wrote this; they’d strip away my Italian-decent if I mention telling people to go to Olive Garden), since today is also National Breadstick Day!

Yes, tongue-in-cheek, this brings a smile, knowing that days are set aside for some fun ideas.

Speaking with a hospital chaplain recently, she tells every patient she visits that it is “God Loves You Day.” Many times, sick patients believe God is punishing them for not being good. The verse from 1 John 4:16 reminds us that our Lord above is neither distant nor angry with us; His love is ever so strong toward each of us. God knows we fall short of what He desires from us because our nature wants us to sin. We are not condemned to eternal death. Through His Son, Jesus Christ, we are saved and loved!

Take today to maybe eat some candy corn or go to a “restaurant that is not to be named’ and munch some breadsticks with a salad. God loves you every day. Celebrate God’s love daily!

Today’s Prayers

Heavenly Father, thank You for loving all Your children and me. Guide me to live in Your love today and every day. Amen.

Apostles’ Creed:

I believe in God, the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth.

And in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried. He descended into hell. The third day He rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty. From thence He will come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Christian Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

The Lord’s Prayer:

Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name, Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven; give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever and ever. Amen.

Luther’s Morning Prayer:

I thank You, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, Your dear Son, that You have kept me this night from all harm and danger; and I pray that You would keep me this day also from sin and every evil, that all my doings and life may please You. For into Your hands, I commend myself, my body and soul, and all things. Let Your holy angel be with me, that the evil foe may have no power over me. Amen.
