Sunday’s Verse:
From Revelation 7:4 ESV
“They have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.”
We remember them on All Saints' Day. Their faces, their voices, their love. The many ways God blessed our lives through them. There may be tears. But for us Christians, our tears are with hope.
They did not make it to heaven by living sinless lives. Jesus lived, died, and rose for them. They are wearing white robes because they were washed clean in the blood of the Lamb.
We too can have that same promise.
When we were baptized, God wrapped us in Christ. By faith we receive forgiveness, righteousness, and life. We are saints because of what Jesus did for us.
We also know on All Saints' Day that there are more of us than the people sitting in the pews on Sunday morning. We are connected in Christ to all believers. Even those who have passed away from this earth.
Our tears will be wiped away one day. Our suffering will come to an end. Death will be defeated. We will stand with the great multitude before the throne of God and praise the Lamb.
All Saints' Day gives us the joy of knowing we will see those we've lost. But more than that, we will see Jesus.
Because He lives, we will live too.
Today’s Prayers
Lord God, thank you for the saints who have gone before us. Help us in our times of sorrow and give us strength when we are weak. Help us to look to Jesus our risen Savior. May we remember that because of his death and resurrection, the grave is defeated and we will live. Help us to remain faithful until that day. Amen.
Apostles’ Creed:
I believe in God, the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth.
And in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried. He descended into hell. The third day He rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty. From thence He will come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Christian Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.
The Lord’s Prayer:
Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name, Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven; give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever and ever. Amen.
Luther’s Morning Prayer:
I thank You, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, Your dear Son, that You have kept me this night from all harm and danger; and I pray that You would keep me this day also from sin and every evil, that all my doings and life may please You. For into Your hands, I commend myself, my body and soul, and all things. Let Your holy angel be with me, that the evil foe may have no power over me. Amen.
