God Remembers and is Faithful
Friday'’s Verse:
From Malachi 3:16 ESV
“Then those who feared the Lord spoke with one another. The Lord paid attention and heard them, and a book of remembrance was written before him of those who feared the Lord and esteemed his name.”
This weekend in church, we read from the Book of Malachi, Chapter 3, verses 13-18. Malachi speaks hard words to us this week. The Lord listens as some of his people grumble about serving him, “It’s not worth it.” Looking around, it seems like the proud and ungodly are getting ahead, and his faithful followers are getting nothing. We know that feeling. It’s easy to wonder if obedience matters when life feels unfair.
The passage takes a turn when the Lord begins to speak about another group. These are the ones who fear him and talk to one another about his promises. The Lord leans in and listens. He says that a scroll of remembrance is written before Him of those who fear him and serve him. He calls them his treasured possession. He will make a clear distinction between the righteous and the wicked, even if that line is a little blurry right now.
This text is an invitation to lift our eyes from frustration and point them to promise. God sees every act of faith, even when no one else does. He knows the challenge of remaining faithful when the world seems to reward something else. In Christ, God has already claimed us as his own. Our worth is not defined by visible success but by the mercy that he has placed over us.
So when your work goes unseen or your prayers go unheard, remember the God who writes your name in his book. Trust that He is faithful to his people. Keep walking with Him, encouraged that He will set all things right.
Prayers
A Prayer for Today:
Lord, keep my heart steady when I am feeling discouraged. Teach me to trust your promises more than my circumstances. Let me cling to You as Your treasured child. Amen.
Apostles’ Creed:
I believe in God, the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth.
And in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried. He descended into hell. The third day He rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty. From thence He will come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Christian Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.
The Lord’s Prayer:
Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name, Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven; give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever and ever. Amen.
Luther’s Morning Prayer:
I thank You, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, Your dear Son, that You have kept me this night from all harm and danger; and I pray that You would keep me this day also from sin and every evil, that all my doings and life may please You. For into Your hands, I commend myself, my body and soul, and all things. Let Your holy angel be with me, that the evil foe may have no power over me. Amen.
