Christ Still With Us
Saturday’s Verse:
From John 1:14 ESV
“And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son[d] from the Father, full of grace and truth.”
Christmas is not only about Jesus coming into the world. It is about His promise that He does not leave it.
When the Word became flesh, God did not come to visit His people; He came to dwell with them. The baby lying in the manger is the same Lord who speaks to us through His Word, forgives us through His promises, and gives Himself to His Church. Emmanuel means “God with us,” and that name does not expire when the Christmas season is over.
Jesus Himself is clear on this point. When He appears to His disciples after the resurrection, He does not say, “Do you remember when I was with you?” He says, “I am with you always.” Not only in times of joy but in weakness and doubt and suffering and days that seem to drag by and leave no mark.
This is where Christmas meets everyday life. Christ is present for sinners in need of forgiveness, for the weary in need of rest, present in water and Word and bread and wine, not as a memory, but as a living Savior who keeps His promise.
So, Christmas is not only something we look back on. It is something we live in. Christ has come, and He remains.
✝️ A Prayer for Today:
Lord Jesus, who came in humility and still comes to us in mercy, keep us mindful of Your presence. When we feel alone or unsure, remind us that You are near, faithful, and for us. Amen.
Apostles’ Creed:
I believe in God, the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth.
And in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried. He descended into hell. The third day He rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty. From thence He will come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Christian Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.
The Lord’s Prayer:
Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name, Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven; give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever and ever. Amen.
Luther’s Morning Prayer:
I thank You, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, Your dear Son, that You have kept me this night from all harm and danger; and I pray that You would keep me this day also from sin and every evil, that all my doings and life may please You. For into Your hands, I commend myself, my body and soul, and all things. Let Your holy angel be with me, that the evil foe may have no power over me. Amen.
