He Will Make Straight Your Paths
Monday’s Verse:
From Proverbs 3:6 ESV
in all your ways submit to him,
and he will make your paths straight.
We look at Proverbs 3:6, taken from a Biblical meme on X.
And yes, their is a spelling error in the meme.
Life doesn’t come with a playbook. Some days feel like a win — like the Giants on Sunday — and others hit hard with loss, like Nabers going down. Proverbs 3:6 is a verse that I love and cling to in good days and on hard days like Nabers’ injury. It reminds us not to try to figure everything out on our own but instead to acknowledge God in all of our ways, big and small, happy and hard.
Acknowledge God. As a Lutheran, this is not about trying to do or say just enough good to then earn His guidance. This is about faith. It’s about trusting that Christ is with us and that He is already leading us. Jesus makes our way straight, not because we can walk it perfectly, but because He already has.
Today, whether you are rejoicing in a win or facing an uncertain future, stop and redirect your thoughts to God and acknowledge Him. Say a little prayer. Offer thanks. Whisper, “I trust You.” It may not get the path straight, but it will get God’s path, and He does not lead you astray.
Prayers
A Prayer for Today:
Lord, thank You for Your presence in every part of my life. Teach me to trust You, especially when I don't understand the way ahead. Keep my heart anchored in Your promises. Make my path straight, not because I deserve it, but because You are good. Amen.
Apostles’ Creed:
I believe in God, the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth.
And in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried. He descended into hell. The third day He rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty. From thence He will come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Christian Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.
The Lord’s Prayer:
Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name, Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven; give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever and ever. Amen.
Luther’s Morning Prayer:
I thank You, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, Your dear Son, that You have kept me this night from all harm and danger; and I pray that You would keep me this day also from sin and every evil, that all my doings and life may please You. For into Your hands, I commend myself, my body and soul, and all things. Let Your holy angel be with me, that the evil foe may have no power over me. Amen.
